There’s nothing better than coming into work in the morning, seeing a shed ton of emails and realising that half of them aren’t actually work. I subscribe to an unhealthy number of digests. Some are business and industry-related, some for inspiration and others purely to help me avoid the first 10 minutes of the day.

Joking aside, these digests are damn helpful. Get the right ones in your inbox, and it’ll kick start your day almost as well as an Americano.

So here are my suggestions:

My obsession with #GirlBoss grew from my initial obsession with Sophia Amoruso, and whilst I could spend this entire page fangirl-ing her (that will happen one day), this space is dedicated to her baby. First an incredible book, then an incredible podcast and now an ass-kicking movement of women and media to inspire us all. Whether it be careers, finance or even a guilty dose of horoscopes, their digests cover so much relatable knowledge that you didn’t even know you needed to relate to.


I’m not a morning person. I have known to struggle with small talk before 10am. But where coffee has sometimes failed me, The Hustle has saved me. This business-filled love letter is sent to my inbox every morning, bringing daily doses of crucial updates, punny jokes and sunshine. I’m now equipped to break the morning ice with intellectual conversation at a moment’s notice.

However, nothing I say can sell them as much as the genius-ness of their About Page.

I don’t understand how it’s taken me 5 years to find these guys, but I’m certainly making up for lost time. Now a household name in the media world, The Everygirl provides the much-needed daily dose of inspiration for that 9am start. Through their features, how-tos and first-hand accounts, their content drives and guides you through to becoming your best self… financially, socially and stylishly.

Oh and check out their downloadable backgrounds… I’ve never looked back.


Just opening an email from The Good Trade makes me feel like a better person. Founded in LA in 2014, The Good Trade covers everything conscious - fashion, beauty, food, wellness, lifestyle, and travel. Their daily newsletter, The Daily Good is branded as ‘Everyday Inspiration for the Informed Woman’. Starting with a little mantra for the day, the digest lets you know who you should be following and listening to, where to visit and browse, and what to read.

I’m only a few months into my role and already I’ve picked up just how important an external focus can be. I’ve learned that a sure way of successfully pitching change inside your company is to show what’s happening on the outside. One way of making sure you keep in the know is subscribing to digests that are focused on your own industry. With my role in publicity and academic publishing, I subscribe to Marketing Week and The Scholarly Kitchen. They will regularly report on what our competitors are doing and what the current trends are, which is super helpful in figuring out where your company or team can do better.

Stay informed and things will start clicking together, paving the way for you to work on yourself, your team and even your company.
